Traditional Upholstery

Our sensitive approach and craftsmanship ensures each piece is refurbished with respect for its history, while the use of contemporary fabrics can totally transform a chair, bringing it up to date in a stylish blend of old and new design.

Our services include:

  • Full reupholster – we strip down and rebuild the chair using new webbing, springs and stuffing materials to bring it back to its former glory.
  • Restoring – when woodwork needs further attention, we work closely with an experienced restorer.
  • Recovering – we help you decide on the best fabric for your chair, with a huge range of fabric samples and advice on colour, texture and durability.
  • Replacing springs and webbing – when a chair is starting to show the strain, we replace the webbing and sew new springs into place to give it a new lease of life.
  • Deep buttoning – we can replace the buttons in your chosen fabric in the same configuration as the original.

When a chair is brought into the workshop it is carefully assessed to determine the extent of refurbishment needed. This may simply mean replacing the top fabric if it has become worn, or it may involve a more detailed refurbishment, including new springs and webbing.

All work can be carried out using traditional techniques and materials to restore the chair or settee to its original comfort and style. Detailed quotations are given.
